New Roof Construction
New construction roofing is a different job from replacing a roof on a lived-in house. The schedule belongs to the builder, the deck is bare, and the roof has to be dried in on time or every trade behind it slips. Redemption Roofing and Construction handles new-construction roofing across the Tri-Cities — Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol, and the surrounding Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina communities.
We work with builders, general contractors, and homeowners running their own build. Roofing and siding is all we do, which means we show up on the day we said, dry the structure in, and get off the critical path.

What We Handle on a New Build
On new construction the roof is a system installed onto a bare deck, and the details that get skipped early are the ones that leak in year three:
- Dry-in on schedule, so framing and interior trades are not held up
- Synthetic underlayment and ice and water shield at eaves, valleys, and penetrations
- Drip edge, step and counter-flashing detailed correctly at every wall and chimney
- Intake and exhaust ventilation designed for the actual attic volume, not guessed
- Architectural shingle, standing seam metal, or specialty material to the plan
- Coordination with siding, gutter, and trim so the envelope transitions line up
Because we also install siding and seamless gutters, the whole exterior envelope can be one scope with one crew. That removes the finger-pointing that happens when a leak appears at the junction between two subcontractors’ work.

Why Builders and Owners Work With Redemption
Redemption Roofing is an Owens Corning® Roofing Platinum Preferred Contractor, a certification held by only the top 1% of roofing companies nationwide. Earning it meant carrying $1,000,000 in general liability insurance, demonstrating sustained customer service and financial stability, and passing a workmanship inspection. On a build that matters for two reasons: the certification requires proven financial stability and scheduling reliability, and it makes the Platinum Protection Roofing System Limited Warranty available to hand to the eventual homeowner.
Top 1% Certified
Owens Corning® Platinum Preferred, backed by $1,000,000 in general liability coverage and a passed workmanship inspection.
On Schedule, Off the Critical Path
Dry-in when we said we would. A roofing crew that misses its window holds up every trade behind it, and we know it.
The Whole Envelope
Roof, siding, and gutters from one specialist crew, so the transitions between them are detailed by the people responsible for both sides.
Getting the Roof Right Before the Drywall Goes Up
A few decisions made at framing stage are expensive or impossible to revisit once the house is finished. These are the ones worth settling early.
- Ventilation strategy: ridge and soffit intake sized to the attic volume
- Whether the roof pitch suits the material specified on the plan
- Valley detailing where two different pitches meet
- Chimney, skylight, and dormer flashing planned rather than improvised
- Where gutters and downspouts will discharge relative to the grade
- Roof-to-wall transitions where siding meets a lower roof plane
- Whether a metal accent over a porch or dormer is wanted
- Color coordination between shingle, siding, trim, and gutter
Working With Your Build Schedule
We quote from plans, hold the date, and communicate if weather moves it. Most new-construction roofs are dried in within a day or two of starting, with the finished roof following once the structure is ready. If you are a homeowner acting as your own general contractor, we will walk you through where roofing sits in the sequence and what has to be complete before we can start.

Materials for a New Build
On a new build you are choosing a roof once, with the envelope still open and nothing to tear off. That is the cheapest moment you will ever have to make the decision well, so it is worth knowing what each option actually buys you:
- Architectural asphalt — the default on most residential builds, for honest reasons: it performs, it is available, and the warranty behind it is solid
- Standing seam metal — more up front, rated for decades longer, and the sensible answer on low-slope sections, porch roofs, and anything you would rather not revisit
- Synthetic slate and shake — the look of the real material at a weight your framing does not have to be engineered around. For those who value aesthetic and quality
- Ventilation and underlayment — not the choice anyone notices, and the one that actually decides whether the roof reaches its rated life
Specifying early is key. Changing roof material after the trusses are set and the budget is committed is where new builds lose money, because the framing, the ventilation plan, and the flashing details all follow from what is going on top. Tell us what you are building and we will tell you how we can be of service.
